The first PVA meeting of the 2011-2012 school year was held in the Fellowship Hall by Mr. Kirby and Mrs. Susie on September 14th at 9:15.

Mr. Kirby welcomed each of us , we introduced ourselves to the group, and then he explained all the important stuff. Mr. Kirby went over the procedures for the LUNCH FORM, EARLY CARE/EXTENDED CARE prices and proper way to sign in. I will be making a separate post on these items and hopefully answering any questions that may come up. All of that information is also listed in the Asbury handbook that you should have received.

Mrs. Susie took the floor and went over the following items:
Important communication is sent home from the Directors as well as the Teachers on Thursdays so please be sure to check your child's book bag. Mr. Kirby sends home early care/extended care payment information on Thursdays also and those payments are due on the 15th of every month. You WILL NOT get a bill for tuition. Tuition is due on the on the 5th of each month.

BOX TOPS We will be collecting Box Tops again this year. Do not paste them onto anything. Please count the box tops and place them into a zip-lock bag. Provide your child's name, class, and the total number of box tops on the bag. There will be a place to turn in your BOX TOPS on the yellow board  to the left as soon as you walk in the school. (Typically where Mr. Kirby stands in the mornings)
As a school we will also be collecting and recycling CAPRI-SUN pouches, OSCAR MEYER LUNCH-ABLE covers, and all size LAY'S CHIP BAGS. There are bins to the right outside of Mrs. Susie's office for you to place these items.
FUNDRAISERS! This year we will be selling Cookie dough, Southern Nuts, School pictures, and having Family Dinner night. We did discuss the idea of doing a Spring Family Photo as a fundraiser. If this is something that you, your friends, and other family members would be interested in please let us know.
If you prefer to donate money to the school at anytime please feel free too. These fundraisers are very important to our school.

Him and his team have done an amazing job with the pictures over the past couple of years and I am personally looking forward to them again this year. If you have any suggestions for a back drop please feel free to e-mail him with your ideas. When dressing your child for this day please try to pick a solid color outfit that isn't busy or distracting to your child's adorable face. SUNSHINE COMMITTEE is a group of us parents who try to do special things for the teachers through out the school year. For you working parents this is a GREAT way to still be involved. We want to try and do a small breakfast for the teachers on the third Thursday of each month during the scheduled staff meetings. Food and other items will need to be dropped off between 7:30-8 am. There are also some special surprises that can't be discussed here.  If you would like to help us give back to the teaches for all of the love that they give to our kids send an e-mail to Angel O'Neal at powersinsc@aol.com.

The next PVA meeting will be October 5th at 9:15 in the fellowship hall.
